Physiowise Ortho and Sports Physiotherapy

Context : I have been suffering from chronic back pain issues from last 10 + years. As a result i have frequently consulted most recommended allopaths in bangalore - Malleshwaram, BG road, Kalyannagar, Hebbal etc., tried homeopathy, visited few physiotherapists and also undergone Ayurveda treatments at various places like Jindal and in Kerala.

I knocked at the doors of Dr Roshan on 29th Dec with back pain with 2 MRI's taken over last 10 years and other reports. He spent the first half hour on his diagnosis and was able to rule out any issues with discs. While, every other doctor used to correlate the MRI's with my symptoms and assume it is due to slight disc bulge, Dr Roshan performed various tests, and made me do stretches and explain at every instance on what he was trying to check. I was impressed by his way of diagnosis and getting to the root cause - Pelvic tilt while the discs were pretty healthy with normal wear and tear.

I have taken about 15 sessions with doctor to overcome the pain for first few session, and later to start working on rehabilitation. Doc was very friendly, listened patiently and was able to customize exercises based on what was practical. He was upfront in setting the right expectations and work in that direction. It will never get to factor settings (in his words), but the exercises and his setting has helped me to manage pain and strengthen the areas. Its a journey in the right direction this time for me.

For me, this has been a very very helpful discovery to meet Dr Roshan. He was able to help me get to the root cause of the issue and work for a solution. While the sessions have helped, I continue to work on home exercises and doing monthly followups with him. His knowledge about musculoskeletal system of the human body is just amazing and his friendly nature and attitude to serve and solve patients' problems is commendable. He comes with his extensive experience abroad and India and his credentials and masters degree. He has a very unique way in which he treats patients which differentiates him -with NOT just the ultrasound, and the usual muscle stimulator to release pain.

I have been experiencing severe pain in my legs and ankles for the past two months, leading to hospitalization without a clear diagnosis. Despite medical attention, doctors initially focused on treating my spine, which was unrelated to my leg and ankle pain. Various tests, including scans to rule out conditions like DVT, venous Doppler, and arterial Doppler, were conducted. Eventually, an MRI was recommended for my spine. I was prescribed painkillers for four days before being discharged with medication and advised to undergo physiotherapy sessions, yet none of these treatments alleviated my symptoms.

Upon a recommendation, I sought out Mr. Jacob Roshan Mathew for further evaluation. Mr. Mathew attentively listened to my medical history and conducted a series of physical examinations to eliminate spinal issues as the cause of my leg pain. He then focused his investigation on my legs and ankles, ruling out several potential causes before suggesting an MRI specifically for those areas. He provided clear explanations regarding potential underlying issues.

Furthermore, I encountered an incident where the diagnostic center initially quoted a higher price for the leg MRI. However, after Mr. Mathew intervened, they offered a significant discount, making the procedure more affordable.

After reviewing the MRI results, Mr. Mathew promptly contacted me and recommended consulting a vascular surgeon. Despite previous visits to renowned hospitals, including Bangalore Aster Hospital (Hebbal), none were able to identify the root cause of my condition. However, Mr. Jacob Roshan Mathew's thorough analysis within a short timeframe led to a precise diagnosis.

After reading reviews for Dr Roshan on Practo, I visited him for back pain that I've had for the last 7-8 months. I could barely stand up without pain after prolonged sitting and my torso felt extremely stiff all the time. The pain made my job challenging and kept me out of the gym for quite a while.

After a recap of my back issue, Dr Roshan tried a few approaches to figure out which one helped ease my symptoms and explained each step in great detail so I could understand my body better. He diagnosed the issue as a Posterior Sacrum after 2-3 sessions and equipped me with a couple of exercises to help keep it in check. I had also been a bit apprehensive about the treatment duration and the cost as both tend to go up usually but Dr Roshan kept it crisp and productive.

I've had 4-5 sessions so far and my back feels good! I've finally started to have pain-free days and I can't thank Dr Roshan enough. Keeping the treatment aside, he is great to talk to and quite reassuring. I came out of his clinic feeling it wasn't the end of the world for me. I can't recommend him enough!

So , I visited him for my tendon pain around the wrist area and for my lower back pain (more of a nibble) . The treatment thus far for both of it has been absolutely wonderful. Even though the tendon pain around my wrist area would take longer to heal.

But the way I was told that I don’t need to come often and that I can do these mobilisation movements at home speaks a great desk about his work ethics.

I then took my wife too for her pain in the left leg and lower back area and the lower left heal area.

What left us in awe of the Dr. was how he told and showed me that the pain in the leg which could be causing pain in the lower back and around the neck area could largely be due of to the misalignment of the hip , ans I could clearly see that my wife’s one leg was significantly shorter than the other.

The ongoing treatment for that too has been very satisfactory.

The best part about the doctor is his humane approach and how interactive he’s during the entire treatment . He actually listens to you . Very humble and down to earth.

I had undergone an ACL reconstruction with a hamstring graft in August 2023 for a grade 3 ACL tear that I had been living with since a decade and a half. I had few sessions for physiotherapy immediately post the surgery.

Fast forward to April 2023, I had resumed most of my activities but I was still having some difficulty in achieving my pre-op gait. Since I am a fairly active person, searched for someone specializing in sports rehab and doctor Ruben came highly recommended in Practo.

Doctor had practiced for more than a decade and a half in Australia and he had an entirely different take on surgical intervention in ACL injuries. He identified that the hyperextension of my knees which even my orthopedic surgeon had not considered while attributing the arthritic changes in my knee to my ACL injury and indicated that I might not have needed the surgery in the first place.

However since the surgery couldn’t be undone, he identified the issues with my gait to the muscle wastage which hadn’t completely recovered. He designed an exercise regimen fairly similar to my post op sessions but showed me the right angles and form to engage specific muscle groups.

It is just the beginning of a long and arduous rehab and I am impressed with doctor’s ability to articulate human anatomy and connect with the patients. I will update the progress by updating this review at the end of the rehab.

Dr. Roshan, If I could give him 5000 stars , I would!!! I've been seeing Dr. Roshan daily for nearly 15 days, for post-stroke treatment as my left arm and leg had weakened due to the stroke. I was not able to walk properly or even stand for few minutes. I was also having tremendous back pain from past 5-6 years due to incorrect posture, but Dr. Roshan made the pain disappear by the 3rd session and stroke related complaints vanish after a week. As other reviewers have stated he goes out of his way to help and treat you. He works with you to address not only physio but your other health concerns, as far as possible, rather than just telling you what to do. He wants to make sure you and him are on the same page and comfortable. And he goes out of his way to care for his patients. Like, he also reviewed my work from home setup and pointed out the exact root cause which was contributing majorly in my back-pain problem. He treated and helped me in the mid-lockdown instead of just treating on the phone or on a video call. It might sound like breaking the law and lockdown rules, but, he didn't. Because the first 4-6 weeks are very crucial when you are recovering from a stroke and proper exercises help you get back to normalacy, without which it becomes more difficult in future. I am now in the 5th week after taking 3 weeks of rest and medication post stroke and I am already feeling normal since last week. Trust me, if you are suffering from a orthopaedic or a physio related problem, talk to Dr. Roshan once.

Dr. Roshan is a through professional *** **** ************* in his speciality. I went to him nursing multiple issues with AC joint, meniscus, tennis elbow and hip pain. Normally a therapist just picks one issue and treats it but he gave equal consideration to all the aspects and in the little time I had before going on an expedition he managed to ease my pain to a very high extent. I would recommend him to anyone who has had chronic issues and has visited multiple therapists. I am confident he will be able to deliver substantial pain reduction as well as great advice on strength and conditioning to elevate your fitness levels. He took time to explain the issues as well as conducted a very thorough diagnosis so that essential care could be provided.

I was in pain for almost 3 months when I visited Dr. Roshan. He was very friendly and explained the injury clearly and treated me with a lot of care. As I started the physio I could see the pain reducing and I was feeling a lot better. He makes sure that injury gets healed. Spends good and quality time with clients. Provides all needed support to be fit again. I highly recommend Dr Roshan and Physiowise for all those who are looking for physiotheraphy treatment. Dr. Roshan is really a gem in Bangalore. Trained in Australia he is unique in practising manual therapy which gives relief quickly. He was patient and investigated my pelvic pain to root cause and my stubborn heel pain in foot. Lucky to have found him. He was confident to suggest an MRI which all orthopedist didn't bother to do. Very logical, professional and punctual. I would recommend to all people having sports injuries which are looking lasting and stubborn to see him. especially since orthopedists aren't trained to investigate like he does with tissues. I am super satisfied with good treatment. Thanks to him I see a light at the end of this 1.5 years to pain.

Dr. Roshan took a different approach with our injuries. After visiting several doctors and getting diagnoses, he was able to take a balanced view of the treatment. He looked at the whole body alignment and not just the injured knee and arm. He combines different techniques to help you recover. He explains what he's doing and why the exercises will help. He makes sure that you start slow and helps you carefully work up the intensity over time. The clinic is always clean and the equipment well maintained.
